According to the article at GUNS.COM the rifle is currently still in the evaluation process and is looking at mass production towards the end of the year... I won't lie, I'm kind of excited.

AK-12
From what I've been reading this sounds like a pretty versatile rifle... The receiver is still stamped steel and the magazines it uses will remain the same however, the internals of the AK 12 are very different. The AK 12 will also come cambered in 4 different calibers (5.45x39mm, 5.56x45mm, 7.62x39mm and 7.62x51mm).
